Finger Painting at It's Finest

Late night finger painting at it's finest. It should really say who cares what (I think) people think?

Sometimes it's hard for me to see the value in my work. I'm always asking myself: will people like it? enough to buy it? what if no one likes it? is it worth creating more? is it as good as so-and-so's? But then I'm reminded that my worth does not come from my art, but from my God. So when those questions creep into my mind, I just think WHO CARES! My father in heaven loves all that I create and I know He'd hang up all my work in His office.
So who. cares. what (I think) people think?

My Life in (Water)color

Recently, I've been really into watercolor. It's so facinating to watch the colors blend together when you add water. It's truly something beautiful. Although I only dabble in it, it's something that relaxes me and even if I mess up, it somehow still looks good.

Here are my first attempts...
they obviously aren't perfect, and I knew I had a ways to go.. they still looked cool.

I've been trying different techniques and buying different paint to see what works best for me, and I'm proud of what I've been creating lately...

I'll be posting more watercolors soon, and who knows... maybe I'll start selling them!

Hues of Grace: Where It Began

Hues of Grace. It started my freshman year of college as a way to spruce up the bare dorm walls. It then became a way I could spend a little time with the Lord, relaxing in His presence. I started putting pictures up on Instagram, and more and more people kept telling me they would pay for what I was making. After some hesitation, I decided to open an Etsy shop in October 2013. I couldn't think of a name to save my life, so some friends helped me come up with one, Hans Canvs. It was cute, although no one could pronounce it.

This is the canvas that started it all...

I wasn't expecting much, but over the months have been so incredibly blessed! Not only has my Etsy shop been successful, but I have also done multiple art shows at local churches and schools. It's been such a great experience thus far, and I can't wait to see where it goes next.

Freshman year has now ended, and summer has been a time to wind down and relax. With this, I started to think about the name, I wanted the name to better reflect me and what God has put in my heart. Hues of Grace. Hannah (my name) means "grace", and in the bible grace is a gift from God. It is a kindness from Him that we don't deserve. Hues comes from the desire that the different "hues" of God would be seen in my work. and it's punny ;)

I just wanted to give you an peek into where Hues of Grace started and what it's becoming.
